Peewee HL Ice Cats - their Journey to never giving up 2019/20

This season our Peewee House League team were our hidden gems and their perseverance and dedication to the game needs to be acknowledged.
The House League teams play under the Greater Hamilton Girls Hockey League (GHGHL). There were 4 Pods of 4 teams each in the Peewee division.
In the regular season, the team played 20 games where they only won 2 games with the majority being a loss. They ended their regular season in 13th place.

The team played in 2 tournaments: the South Huron Pink the Rink and the Walter Gretzky Tournament. The Cats did not win in either event.
Despite this history, these girls did not give up. They worked on their skills and teamwork as the challenge of the GHGHL Play-offs was coming. |

The GHGHL Play-offs
In the Play-offs these Cats were playing the Ancaster Maroon team, the Haldimand Orange team and the Flamorough White team. This round robin had each playing their opponents twice for a total of 6 games played by each team. |

Play-offs began in February and the Peewee HL Ice Cats played 5 games prior to the COVID-19 shut-down. Their hard work was paying off and they were on FIRE!
They had won 4 out of the 5 games they played with 3 of their games a shut-out! One of their games was a tie.
Talk about gellin’.
While it is so disappointing that the season was cut short and we were so excited with the progress of our Peewee HL Ice Cats, we know they will only get better next season!
A big shout out to Madelyn Avey who was a player coach this year- all the girls look up to Madelyn and she loved helping the girls throughout the season. |
