U15 A Wins Walter Gretzky Tournament with a GOLD 2022-23, Accomplishments (Brantford Girls Hockey Association)

Do you want to know what it is like to win 5 games in a row in a tournament? 
It feels like GOLD! 
Just ask our U15 A Ice Cats.

This year’s 41^st Annual Walter Gretzky Tournament was held over the weekend of February 24^th.

There were 6 U15 A teams in the competition:  the Kingston Ice Wolves, the North Halton Twisters, the St. Thomas Panthers, the Chatham Kent Crush, the Lambton Attack and our Ice Cats.  The Round Robin had each team play 3 games.

Our Cats played the Chatham Kent Crush, the St. Thomas Panthers and then the Lambton Attack in their round robin games.  They won 2-1, 2-0, and 4-0 respectively.

In the Quarter Final elimination game on Saturday, our Ice Cats played the Lambton Attack team.  Everything was on the line to get into the finals.  The team rose to the challenge and beat the Attack with a 1-0 win.

Sunday was the Finals game and the team was playing the Kingston Ice Wolves.  They played a great ‘team’ game and won 5-0.

It should be noted that for the entire weekend, there was only 1 goal made against the Cats; all other games were shut-outs.  Awesome goaltending and team play!

The U15 A Ice Cats won the GOLD!

The team captain, Blair Matthews was also awarded MVP for the game.
