Finney Bursary Program
BGHA Ice Cats going on to Post Secondary Education
Kevin was an avid BGHA Hockey Dad of two active Ice Cats. He passed away suddenly in 2022. In honor of his memory, his family has created a Post-secondary School Bursary in his honor
  • Josie MacLean
    Ice Cats U22 HL
    Josie has been with the BGHA for many years playing Rep hockey. This year she played in the U22 team. Her ultimate goal is an Optometrist with a 2nd option path plan but will be starting her career path with an undergraduate degree in the Sciences. She is currently awaiting to hear from the Universities she applied. Aside from being active in hockey, Josie has played other sports, volunteered, received many awards while maintaining her grades. Congratulations Josie!

BGHA Scholarship/Bursary Program
BGHA Ice Cat
Awarded annually at the Association Banquet, the goal of the program is to reward and recognize outstanding individuals who excel in the classroom, on the ice, in the community and exhibit qualities of leadership and commitment within the BGHA organization.

    Caitlin Osborn
    U22 HL - Head Coach Jamie MacNaught
    Caitlin will be attending the University of Guelph in 2024/25 working on her Bachelor of Arts - English. She has been an Ice Cat for many years and racked up GOLD and SILVER medals with Most Outstanding and Heart and Hustle Awards. When she wasn't playing or volunteering with hockey she also played competitive soccer while maintaining her grades. Congratulations Caitlin!

    Grace Martin
    U18BB - Head Coach Brad Dunlop
    Grace will be attending Brock University in 2024/25 working on her BA of Psychology. Grace has been an Ice Cat for many years winning MVP multiple times and most sportsmanship award. She volunteered at Ice Cat events along with helping coach a younger Ice Cat team. Along with playing hockey, Grace played softball and girls lacrosse while maintaining her academics. Congratulations Grace!

    Kanerataien Doxtador-Swamp
    U18 HL - Head Coach Rob Symons
    Kanerataien will be attending Sheridan College in 2024/25 working on Art Fundamentals. She has played with the Ice Cats for the past 4 years and won Heart and Hustle awards while growing as a player and honing her skills. While excelling in school, she has also been busy developing her skills in drama, filming (Rogers TV), writing for the newspaper club fashion and school hockey. Congratulations Kanerataien!

Annual BGHA Outstanding Volunteer Award
Membership Nomination
Previously the Marliese Hoffman Award. Annual Volunteer Award representing: 1. Global Volunteerism - (Executive, Committee Work, Tournament,etc.) 2. Representative League 3. House League This person must be a member the association/team and their presence as a member of the organization has a positive impact on those with whom they interact in their role. Members submit outstanding volunteer nominations on-line Awards are announced at BGHA Annual Banquet
  • Nick Wright
    Volunteer - Board/Committee/Global
    Nick has dedicated his time to the BGHA on many different levels this year. He has been an active part of the Board , Disciplinary Committee and helped out with the House League duties, along with helping coach two rep teams . He cares about this organization and making it better. He wants to help build an organization that promotes fun and positive learning for all players. He has spent time this year helping with the tournament and other roles that needed filling.
  • Steve Myers
    Volunteer - Representative
    Steve has been involved with the ice cats program for years. He has always been a calm, respectful member of a coaching staff who is a leader by example. He is kind to all the players and always present. Steve shares his knowledge, particularly in skating, and does everything an assistant coach should do. Steve presents as positive and encouraging. He is someone who my daughter has always seen as the safe, stable, calm one that she can trust on her coaching staff. And he has never disappointed
