Bantam B – Journey to the OWHA Provincials 2019/20
|
Congratulations to the Bantam B Ice Cats in winning the OWHA Playdowns and advancing to the OWHA Provincials.
Here is their journey this season.

The Regular Season
The Bantam B team gave us a hint of the upcoming season with their performance in the six pre-season exhibition games where they won 5 games in a row!
The team played 22 games in the regular season and ended with a 14 wins – 5 losses – 3 ties.

What a Team! – “Building”
Sometimes it was difficult to keep up with this team outside the regular season.
Here is the synopsis:
Right from the get-go this group began their team building with lots of dryland and an event with Athlete Farm Training.
|
|
This team then took on an 18th player. Her name is Peruth who lives in Uganda. These Cats worked hard to raise money to pay for desperately needed surgery and medical care. The girls kept the Association members up to date with her journey which can be reviewed here.
Around Christmas, the team took on a Food Donation Drive challenge with the Woodstock Wildcats. To read about this challenge – click here.

All of our Bantam teams (Rep & HL) have had great seasons, so it just made sense that the two teams should have a game.
The purpose was to just have FUN and this is exactly what happened!
 |
The Tournaments
The Bantam B Ice Cats played 5 tournaments this season. The team won a Silver in Woodstock and a Gold in Belmont, Alymer, Dorchester.
- Big Cat Pre-season Showdown
- Barrie Sharkfest
- Annual Wildcats Tournament - SILVER
- Annual B.A.D. Blazers Tournament - GOLD
- Walter Gretzky Tournament

The OWHA Playdowns
The team was in Pool M in the OWHA Playdowns that included 4 teams: the Ice Cats, Woolwich Wild, Wilmot Wolverines and the Cambridge Roadrunners.
Only two teams from this pool would move on to the Provincials.
The Cats played each team twice for a total of 6 games – BAM! – 6 wins in a row. Three of these games were shut-outs!
Amazing!

The OWHA Provincials
This season the OWHA Provincials were cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
While this was very disappointing to all players, families, fans and the Association, the safety of all are members comes first. |

LLFHL Play-offs
First Round
The Bantam B Ice Cats played the Kitchener Lady Rangers in the best of 3 play-off 1st round. These girls did not want to waste time so the wrapped up this round with two back-to-back wins. On to the 2nd round.
Second Round
This round was against the Woolwich Wild team. Three games were played in this round. The first game led us to believe that this would be an easy win round but the 2nd game ended in a tie game. To heighten the anticipation, the team re-scheduled their 3rd game – UGH!
The Bantam B girls didn’t let us down by winning their 3rd game. On to the 3rd round.
Third Round
The Cats are playing the Woodstock Wildcats which has just started with the 1st game ending in a tie. Unfortunately their 2nd game was a loss and their 3rd game was another tie.
Even though the team isn't going to the LLFHL Championship weekend - this team is outstanding and are gearing up for the Provincials!
