The Development 1 is the certification required by Hockey Canada for coaches of Rep level hockey ‘MD’, ‘A’, ‘AA’ & ‘AAA’ (excluding Minor Bantam AAA and above AAA). Hockey Canada's Body Checking component is included in the ALLIANCE Hockey Development 1 training. This course does not include Respect in Sport certification. Development 1 is a 2-day course includes topics such as; team building with athletes, skills and progression, season planning, practice design, goaltending, offense and defense, individual/team tactics, and practice to game transitions. On-ice training with coaches designing and delivering the above topics is also part of this course. New to our course last season was the addition of the National Coaching Certification Program's (NCCP) M.E.D- Making Ethical Decisions workshop, which assists coaches in identifying the legal, ethical and moral implications of difficult situations that present themselves in team and individual sport

In-Class Session: Saturday June 9, 2018 (8:00am - 5:00pm) Sunday June 10, 2018 (8:00am - 5:00pm) On-Ice Session: June 10, 2018 (1:15pm - 3:15pm)
Please note you will be required to bring skates, a CSA approved helmet, gloves and a stick for the on-ice component.
Clinic Cost: $250.00 You must be at least 16 years old to register.

Post Task/Field Evaluation
Coaches who have been D1 trained prior to July 1, 2014 will be considered D1 certified and be required complete the Making Ethical Decisions-Competition Introduction online evaluation. All coaches who participate in a Development 1 Clinic from July 1, 2014 to present, will be required to complete 3 steps to be fully certified:
1. Making Ethical Decisions online with the Coaching Association of Canada.
2. Required to complete Coach Workbook during the D1 Clinic and also provide it at your practice field evaluation. If there are any questions or concerns contact Tyler Tolton at [email protected]
3. Field Evaluation during one of your team practices by one of our trained field evaluators
