Michelle Smith: Sports Volunteer of the Year
Submitted By Lisa Wallis on Thursday, February 08, 2018
Congratulations for making it as a finalist Michelle!!! Here is the nomination letter that was sent in for Michelle.

The Brantford Girls Hockey Association would like to nominate Michelle Smith for Sports Volunteer of the Year. Michelle is a huge part of our association and she is always willing to help whenever she is needed.

Michelle has been a member of our board for 13 years, she is our Director of House League. Michelle is the liaison between our House League teams/coaches and the board. She works with the coaches and teams to ensure everything is completed in a timely manner. She helps to resolve any issues that may come up with our house league teams. She attends scheduling meetings to schedule all house league games within the GHGHL.

Michelle is also a member of the GHGHL (Greater Hamilton Girls Hockey League), which requires a great deal of travel for meetings and scheduling. Brantford has also been the host of Super Sunday for the GHGHL for the past couple years. Michelle is a huge part of making this happen, working on vendors, scheduling, and making sure the day stays on track.

On top of all this, she has also been head coach or a member of coaching staff on various benches over the past 13 years. She enjoys being around the rink, and helping the girls become the best players they can.

Michelle volunteers countless hours with our association and the GHGHL. She has been volunteering with BGHA for over a decade and we couldn’t thank her enough for everything she has done for the association. She is constantly trying to make the association better and she rarely misses a board meeting. Michelle is always trying to better our house league program on and off the ice.
