Josh Renneboog - Hockey Coach Bio
Born and raised in Brantford, Ontario, Josh has been immersed in the game of hockey his entire life. With a deep-rooted passion for the sport, Josh has not only played at various competitive levels but also contributed to the game in his community. As a current member of the BMHA Hockey Fights Cancer Committee, Josh is committed to giving back to the hockey community beyond the rink.
Playing Background: Josh grew up playing rep hockey in the Brantford Minor Hockey Association, where he developed his skills and love for the game. After his Midget AAA year, he played two seasons with the Brantford Golden Eagles in the MWJHL. While pursuing a Business Administration degree at Brock University, Josh finished his junior hockey career with the Delhi Traveller’s in the SOJHL.
Coaching Experience: Josh began his coaching career as an assistant coach for the Brantford Ice Cats Sr. A in 2006. He transitioned to the Brantford Minor Hockey Association (BMHA) in 2011, where he assisted with the Atom AAA team. Most recently, Josh coached the Brantford 99ers 2012 AAA Group from 2020-2023, leading them to a dramatic double-overtime loss in the Alliance Championship during their U11 (2022/2023) season. Currently, he is serving as an assistant coach for the Brantford Ice Cats U11BB team.
Coaching Philosophy: Josh is dedicated to creating a positive and competitive environment where players are motivated to develop both on and off the ice. He emphasizes the importance of growth as athletes and individuals. With a focus on skating and positional play, Josh works to instill skills that will help his players succeed at the highest levels while fostering a strong sense of teamwork and character.
