REP - U18 AA #2119 - Farewell Brantford
Submitted By Sherri Burgess-Hertner on Sun 03 12, 23
The U18AA Ice Cats are wrapping up a great season. Though they did not qualify for the OWHA Provincials this year, they are coming away from their U18AA season with great friends, a great hockey family, and fantastic memories. As players, they come away from this season with improved individual skill, a better understanding of the game, valuing commitment, playing better within a system and contributing to better play as a unit.

The coaching staff has enjoyed every minute of working with these eighteen incredible girls. The positivity, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn that these girls brought to every Tuesday dryland session and practice, to every late Friday night practice, and to every game they played is hard to put into words. Through the hockey ups and downs, they stuck together, lifted each other up, and persevered. The learning that they shared in their year-end comments is pretty awesome - from appreciating and valuing one another, to being confident with the puck, to creating space, what a proper forecheck looks like, to connecting practice plays to game plays, and pre-game focus.

Next season will bring some changes for the players who still have some minor hockey time left. We wish them all the best wherever their path leads them next year.

This year also marks the end of minor hockey for eight amazing players who enjoyed a Senior Night celebration on Saturday as they said their farewells. We wish them the very best as they are set to begin the next chapter in their lives ~ whether it's to hang up the skates, play Senior or Intramural hockey, or to pursue a post-secondary hockey adventure at the college or university they attend.

On behalf of Jason and Sherri, thank you to an incredible group of girls, to a fantastic and supportive group of parents, and to an amazing coaching staff who made our time in Brantford awesome.
