Sports Council Award Finalist: Maddie Campbell
The BGHA is excited to congratulate our very own Maddie Campbell from the U18A team for being one of 3 finalists for The Adrian Scherders Memorial – Sportsmanship and Dedication Award from the Brantford Sports Council. The Brantford Sports Council Awards and Recognition Program is a way to recognize those that contribute to youth sports in our community.
On behalf of the U18A Coaching Staff, Maddie deserves this award as she has proved her dedication to the sport of hockey and her teammates. She is constantly cheering on her team and never has a negative thing to say. Even after a loss she is able to find the positives, reflect and learn. She has the ability to set goals for herself and work hard and achieve those goals, not only in hockey but with her education as well. Maddie is a straight A student and will be starting at York University in the fall with aspirations to play on their hockey team. She not only puts in the hardwork and hours with the team but also on her own time with her goalie coach. At the beginning of the season she had an injury and came back sooner than expected due her dedication to do everything the doctors asked to speed up her recovery. Maddie truly knows what it takes to be a true team player and sets examples for her teammates of what hardwork and dedication looks like and how it can pay off. She is alway practicing how she plays and plays how she practices. During practice if she is not busy or participating in the drills, she is always seen working on her mechanics and visualizing plays at the side. She also never hesitates to come to her coaches and ask if there is anything we see she needs to improve on.
Congratulations Maddie!!
