Brian Cross
It is with a
heavy heart that the Brantford Girls Hockey Association announces the sudden
passing of one of their most devoted coaches and volunteers Brian Cross.
Born and raised
in Brantford Ontario, Brian was a dedicated coach, mentor and inspiration to
the girls of BGHA. His knowledge, passion and leadership skills played an instrumental role in the growth and development of
girls hockey in Brantford as well as having a lifelong impact on those who had
the privilege to know him.
Brian loved hockey especially coaching his daughter Lexi, a member of the ice cat family since novice and who were both part of the 2012 Bantam "A" Provincial Gold Medal Champions. He was a true professional and class act in every sense of the term, and his memory and contribution to the Brantford Girls Hockey Association will never be forgotten.
Brian received the BGHA Volunteer Award in the 2018/19 Season; and to quote one of the nomination comments: “He goes above and beyond and it’s a pleasure having him guide my daughter on her hockey journey”
Brian had an outstanding hockey career playing five years in the Ontario Hockey League where he was drafted to the Pittsburgh Penguins as a member of the Brantford Alexanders Major Junior "A" Hockey Club.
Our deepest condolences go out to his wife of 35 years Leslie, his daughters Mackenzie, Lexi and the extended Cross family.
