2025/26 U11A take GOLD at the 44th Walter Gretzky Tournament
Our 44th Annual Walter Gretzky Tournament (Feb 20-22) was the venue where our U11A Ice Cats came to shine!
They were ready to show their skills in a pool of five other teams. They were up against the Barrie Sharks, the Scarborough Sharks, the London Devilettes, the St. Catharine's Brock Jr. Badgers and the Sault Ste. Marie Jr. Greyhounds. This was the 4th tournament this season for these Ice Cats and they had not played any of these teams in the previous tournaments. |
The Round Robin started Friday with these Cats winning both of their games against the London Devilettes (4-1) and the Barrie Sharks (8-1). The team had to get up really, really early on Saturday to play the St. Catharine's Brock Jr. Badgers. Tough game that ended in a tie (1-1). Their last game on Saturday was against the Sault Ste. Marie Jr. Greyhounds, the only team who had not loss a game in the tournament. These Cats did their best but loss 3-0.
The Cats ended up in second place for the Semi-Finals.

Semi-Finals started really, really, really early on Sunday morning. Their game was against the St. Catharine's Brock Jr. Badgers. Great game that ended with the Cats winning 3-1.
The team needed to rest up to play the Championship game at 12:15 p.m. that was going to be against the Sault Ste. Marie Jr. Greyhounds. |

The Cats knew that this game was going to use all their skills, teamwork, and endurance. They were up against a team that had not lost a game the whole tournament and they were about to play their 6th game this weekend.
Our Ice Cats did not disappoint. They showed their stuff and more! These players won 2-1 and brought home the GOLD! |
