U18 HL Teams Have a Memorable Weekend at the 42nd Annual Walter Gretzky Tournament

Our U18 HL Black and Red teams put in excellent performances this weekend at the 42^nd Annual Wayne Gretzky Tournament. Both teams played in a pool of six, along with: Carleton Place Cyclones, Ennismore Eagles, Waterloo Ravens and Norfolk Hericanes.

U18 Black started Friday with two games - two wins!  The first game featured an Olivia Schuyler shutout against the Ennismore Eagles (2-0), and the second was against the Waterloo Ravens (2-1).  These Cats were on a roll. The team had one game on Saturday against the Norfolk Hericanes - which they won (2-1).  Three games and three wins! This placed the team in second place in the pool and secured a spot for the Championship Game on Sunday.

U18 Red began the tournament with an impressive 4-0 win over Norfolk, shutout by Tsohadide Doxtador-Swamp, then they battled to a tight 2-2 tie with Ennismore. Saturday saw U18 Red earn a well deserved 2-1 win over Waterloo, giving then an undefeated 2-0-1 record in the tournament, locking down third place. Very memorable moments for this team featured first goals by Kanerahtaien Doxtador-Swamp and Karmyn King.

U18 Black then moved on to the Championship game against the 1st place team - Carleton Place Cyclones.  Our Ice Cats battled valiantly but came up short against a very strong Carleton Place team, earning U18 Black the Silver medal.

Great hockey this weekend girls! A 5-1-1 record for U18 HL Ice Cats. Wow! Excellent efforts by all.
