Kahla Durrant - Head Coach

Over the past three years, Kahla has developed a strong coaching network within the Brantford Girls Hockey Association (BGHA). She is a high-energy coach with approximately five years of coaching experience at the Midget AA level. Kahla was a member of the Waterloo Ravens Midget AA program during the 2011-2012 season where they were OWHA Provincial Championship Finalists. In addition, she has been part of the Brantford Ice Cats Midget AA Coaching Staff this past season where they are currently ranked 5th in Canada. Kahla offers a comprehensive background in sports medicine, sports psychology, fitness and injury prevention and motivational techniques. She is a former goaltender of the University of Waterloo Women's Hockey Team and the Brantford Ice Cats Senior A Team who brings extensive personal experience to the team.  During her time at the University of Waterloo, she competed in the OUA for 3 years (2007-2010) and was ranked 9th goalie overall during 2009-2010 Regular Season.  Kahla graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and continued her education at Western University where she completed a Bachelor of Education. Presently, Kahla is an elementary school teacher within the Waterloo Region District School Board. Kahla possess excellent leadership skills, dynamic communication skills and strong mentoring abilities. She has gained valuable experience over the years by assisting with day-to-day team operations, as well as sharing expert knowledge and techniques with athletes, coaches and parents. Kahla strives to be a coach who is focused on cultivating hardworking and dedicated athletes with an emphasis on teamwork and perseverance. Kahla is looking forward to another successful season with the Brantford Ice Cats Midget AA team.

Lindsay Hoogstraten - Assistant Coach

During the past two seasons Lindsay has been helping coach for Paris Minor Hockey at the Bantam age level. Her focus has been on player development as well as creating a strong team bonding atmosphere. She is continuously thrilled by everything she is learning as a coach. Lindsay’s coaching experience extends outside of the hockey world, as she is part of the coaching staff for Brantford Special Olympics Track and Field team. She also has an extensive background in hockey and fitness. Lindsay graduated from the University of Windsor with a Bachelor of Human Kinetics - Movement Science degree with a minor in Psychology and French.  Focusing her studies on Philosophy of Coaching, Practice Theory and Analysis of Hockey, Sport Psychology, Physiology and Nutrition.  Lindsay is a Can Fit Pro Certified Personal Trainer who provides personal training to individuals in the comfort of their own home, organizes her own outdoor movement nights, and off-ice training sessions for the hockey teams she has coached.  Lindsay is a versatile player, playing both forward and defence throughout her career while being Captain/Alternate Captain for the teams she played for. She currently plays for Brantford Ice Cats Senior A Team.  Lindsay formerly played hockey for the Burlington Barracudas where she was an AP player for Burlington's CWHL team playing with Olympians. Lindsay was recruited by the University of Windsor Lancers as a centreman but ended up playing a key role as a defender. During her 5 years as a Lancer, Lindsay found herself in OUA’s top 10 defensemen twice (Ontario University Athletics), 4th being her best rank (14th in the country (CIS)). Lindsay is passionate about hockey and being a positive role model.  She looks forward to coaching at the Midget AA level and sharing her hockey knowledge and experience.

Sarah Dagg - Assistant Coach 

Sarah was recruited to the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) hockey program in 2007.  Sarah set numerous records during her career at RIT.  Her most remarkable one being RIT’s all-time leader with 154 points.  She was also the Tigers leader with 91 assists and tied for the all-time lead with nine shorthanded markers. Sarah was ranked second with 21 power-play goals and fourth with 63 goals.  She was one of only two, three-time RBK AHCA All-Americans in program history. Sarah is a two-time All-ECAC West first team selection in three seasons with at least 40 points.  She played two seasons in the CWHL, 2011-2012 with the Burlington Barracudas and 2012-13 with the Brampton Thunder.  During the past two years, Sarah has played for the Brantford Ice Cats Senior A Team to help maintain a high level of physical fitness.  Sarah currently works in the sales department for Tree of Life, where she travels throughout southern Ontario to various locations.  During the 2014-2015 season, Sarah organized a skill development program for the Hamilton Hawks Midget AA team.  Sarah is also looking forward to sharing her passion for hockey as well as her extensive career experience with the Brantford Ice Cats Midget AA team.
