I am very excited to be the Atom A/BB Coach for the 2012-2013 season. I’m looking
forward to continue the advancement of the Atom age girls in Brantford and developing
the player’s skills and enjoyment of the game Selection to the team will be based on
skills, positive attitude, hard work and enthusiasm. I look forward to seeing you at the
tryouts.
The goals for the year are continued focus on skating, passing and shooting techniques
while promoting hard work, team play and sportsmanship. There will also be an
emphasis on strength, stamina, breakouts, positioning and game tactics.
We will be meeting 1-2 times a month over the summer with at least one of these
sessions being on ice. The others will take place outside depending on weather to work
on power, stamina and agility.
For the regular season the team’s success depends on the dedication and commitment
of the players, coaches and parents. We are expecting to be on the ice a minimum of 3
days a week along with extra time for power skating, skills development sessions on the
ice and at the Cro’s Nest. Attendance is crucial for the team to progress together
towards our shared goals. We are also expecting to attend between 3 to 4 tournaments
this year with 1 or 2 requiring us to stay in hotels.
Excluding the BGHA registration fees, the approximate cost for ongoing fees will be
approximately $100-$125 a month. This can be offset by any fundraising and
sponsorship we can get.
I will also be looking for parent volunteers to help with Management of the team,
including a parent representative and fundraising representative.
