Congratulations to the Midget BB Ice Cats in winning the OWHA Playdowns and advancing to the OWHA Provincials.

Here is their journey this season.

The Regular Season
.

This season began with a very unique and fun team building event called Tough Mudding.  A pre-season opportunity to learn to work and stick together.

This season for the team played 23 regular season games; ending with 9 wins – 9 losses – 5 ties.

OWHA Playdowns

The Midget BB team were in the M Pool that included the Woolwich Wild, Cambridge Roadrunners, Wilmot Wolverines and the Waterloo Ravens.  Only 2 teams would move forward to the Provincials.

The Cats played Friday & Saturday as they were competing with the Cambridge Roadrunners for that second advancement spot.
Both games ended in a tie (0-0; 1-1).
Sunday was the pressure game where the only option was a win to get that spot.  The game was on home ice against the Waterloo Ravens.

Leave it to the Midget BB team to not let us down – A WIN!  (1-0)

The team has been playing a couple of exhibition games in preparation for the Provincials.

LLFHL Playoff Rounds
.

Although the team did not move on the 3rd round – this team provided pure game excitement

1st Round:

Brantford, who finished fourth in the Central West, opened the series at home against the 5th place Wolverines. Despite out shooting Wilmot in that game by a fairly large margin, the Wolverines came away with a 1-0 series lead with a narrow 1-0 victory.
Game two of the series was played in Brantford February 14th. The Valentine date seemed to suit the Ice Cats as a couple of goals was all that was need as they recorded their third shutout of the post season on the way to a 2-0 victory.

The deciding game of the series was heart-pounding.  At the end of the 3rd period the game was tied 2-2.  The game went to a 10-minute 4-on-4 overtime period that remained at 2-2.  If this wasn’t nerve-wracking enough, next was the shoot-out – that the Cats took.  To read further details of this series – link.

2nd Round:

The Midget BB team were against the Woodstock Wildcats in the 2nd round.  Unfortunately the team didn’t go further.
