Midget B - Journey to LLFHL Championship Weekend 2018/19

LLFHL_3rd_Round_Midget_B_22-Mar-2019.jpg   Congratulations to the Midget B Ice Cats on their LLFHL 3rd round win!

Here is their journey this season!

The Regular Season:
.

This season began with some great team building at the Teen Ranch in Caledon.  A pre-season opportunity to get some practices and dry-land training mixed with some fun activities.

This was a great season for this team who played 22 regular season games; ending with 16 wins – 4 losses – 2 ties.

If this wasn’t enough, this team took the time to give back to a fellow hockey player on an opposing team.
Here is the link to their kindness.

The Tournaments:
.

The Midget B Ice Cats played in 5 tournaments this season:

-   The Niagara Rapids Fall Classic

-   Ancaster Fall Shootout

-   Kitchener Fallfest

-   Guelph Annual Winter Classic

-   Walter Gretzky Tournament

Fans of the team could watch the steady growth of skill and ability within this team by the GOLD medals won in their last two tournaments.

OWHA Provincials:
.

The Cats were in a Playdown Pod of 4 teams:  the Twin Centre Hericanes, Kitchener Jr Lady Rangers and the Woolwich Wild.

Unfortunately only 1 team was to move forward to the Provincials and the Midget B team was in 2nd place.

LLFHL Playoff Rounds:
.

This has been an exciting series for the team, parents and fans.

1st Round:

The team were up against the Oakville Hornets in a best of 3 games. This team had been working hard in preparation for this first round – but one shouldn’t mess with an ICE CAT!

Our team lost their first game 2-3.  This just gave the CATS the extra drive to ensure that they were going to take the next two games – and they DID!  Game 2 was 1-0, and the icing on the cake was Game 3 with a win of 4-0.

2nd Round:

The Midget B Ice Cats 2nd round of the LLFHL Playoffs was against the Haldimand River Cats. While they lost their first game in this round that just made the team more determine that the River Cats would be frozen out by the Ice Cats!  They came back winning the next two games:  both 1-0 for the Ice Cats.

3rd Round:

Some thought it would be a tough round.  The Midget B Ice Cats were up against the Flamborough Falcons Midget B team – the team who had not lost a game this season – for the 3rd round of LLFHL playoffs.

Ha!  Ice Cats excel under pressure!  These Cats took the round with 2 straight wins!  The games were:  2-0 on Thursday evening and an exciting 5-1 game on Friday evening.

Brantford Ice Cats; West Northumberland Wild; North Durham Blades; Twin Centre Hericanes; South Huron Sabres; Barrie Sharks
On Friday the Cats went against the West Northumberland Wild team and South Huron Sabres. Friday wasn't a good hockey day for the team as they were not able to achieve a win.
The Cats got their ice legs on Saturday.  They came back winning both of their games against the Barrie Sharks and Twin Centre Hericanes.  The team had on more game on Sunday.
The Midget B team were determined.  Sunday morning they played the North Durham Blades.  The game ended in a tie.
The game for the Bronze was played in the afternoon against Twin Centre Hericanes.  A close game with the Cats losing (4-3).
Congratulations Midget B Ice Cats - your fans are still so proud of you this season!
